The Latvian Market Association is currently in development, bringing together markets, initiatives, and partners for joint growth.
Its aim is to strengthen the role of markets in Latvia, foster collaboration between markets, producers, and municipalities, and develop new solutions in food systems, tourism, and urban environments.
The association is being formed as an open platform where it is possible to:
build collaborations between markets and small producers
develop new market formats and ideas
share knowledge and strengthen the overall market ecosystem in Latvia

CURRENTLY
On May 26–27, 2026, the Āgenskalns Market team will take part in NOFO 2026, the Nordic Food Market Forum taking place in Warsaw.
The gathering will bring together representatives of food markets and food halls from across Europe to exchange experiences on market development, urban environments, gastronomy, and contemporary market culture. The programme includes discussions, professional meetings, and visits to several Warsaw markets and food halls, including Hala Koszyki, Food Town Norblin Factory, Hala Mirowska, and Elektrownia Powiśle.
Such meetings provide an opportunity to explore European market development trends, build new connections, and strengthen the presence of Latvian markets in the international environment.
On April 9 and 30, 2026, two online workshops with the participation of market representatives took place within the framework of the European project FOODCITYBOOST.
The aim of the workshops was to discuss the role of markets in the local food system, share experiences, and outline future development directions for Latvia. The next meeting is planned for autumn.
